Wuldor the Hunter

In the above pictures we see the constellation of Orion. By joining the seven brightest stars we see how the constellation becomes the Wolf Hook. This style of Wolf Hook is based upon the Eoh rune - the Yew rune which again connects it back to Wuldor. Wuldors home is  Ýdalir, meaning "yew dales", so we can see how this constellation is home to Wuldor, and the Wolf Hook his symbol. The Constellation of Orion is followed across the sky by Canis Major and Canis Minor as he travels across the Northern sky. These may represent his hunting dogs - or even the Wolves of Woden, as Wuldor is believed to represent Woden in his winter guise. In the rune poem we see how Wuldor is the Guardian of the Flame. The wood of the Yew burns very well and in esoteric lore we find that the brightest star in Orion is Betelgeuse -  also called ãrdrã  - who is ruled over by the Aryan god Rudra the Bowman.

Anglo Saxon Rune Poem (Eoh)

The yew is a tree with rough bark,
hard and fast in the earth, supported by its roots,
a guardian of flame and a joy upon an estate.

Across the Baltic and North Germanic lands, ‘Hengest and Hors’ was the name given to the cross horse-headed gables which decorated pagan temples and hofs. As the Saxons were a Horse-lord folk – Hengest and Horsa probably took the name as titles for themselves. Tolkien was aware of this – and based the people of Rohan on the Saxon people. Theoden, king of the horse lords takes his name from Theod – Anglo-Saxon for ‘people’ or ‘tribe’. Many of Rohan’s heroes in Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings have names based upon the Eoh (white horse) rune. Rohan itself is a Sanskrit word which relates to health and healing

What seems to be older legends than the Germanic Hengest and Horsa tales, are the Baltic legends of the Ašvieniai – (in the writings of Kathleen Herbert she describes the English as a Baltic people) and these are much more closely related to the Aryan-Hindu legends of the Aswins (sometimes Ashwins / Ashvins) – the divine Horse gods of Hindu lore. Hengest’s (the Jutish chieftain) son was called Ash, and as we will see – we find another connection with their names to horses, as Ash means Horse in the early Aryan languages.

The Vedic Ashwines are Divine Twins, and are depicted as half horse and half human – this symbolism also applies to Woden. They are gods who bring fertility to crops, just as the Baltic Ašvieniai do. In old Lithuanian ‘ašva’ means horse, just as the Sanskrit ‘ashva’ means horse. Both words are connected to our word Ash.  Ašvieniai as horse-gods pull the carriage known as Saulė which is the sun. (Saulė is the same as sole, soul, sal, Sol, solar etc). The Vedic Ashwins also pull the sun across the sky. You may have noticed in the Lord of the Rings, the banners and flags of Rohan contained both white horse and rising sun symbolism.

This symbol is known as a Jumis – a crop fertility symbol from the Baltic lands. We can see the image of the cross horse headed gables. This proto runic glyph is used in pagan artwork often alongside the swastika – and is connected to the Eihwaz rune. The Eihwaz rune is really the same symbol, but the staves are upright and not crossed. The Jumis also represents the bottom of the Ethel rune – the rune of Woden as a Horse-God.

The three armed Triskelion was once a popular emblem amongst the Volkish and ‘back to the Land’ movements of pre WW2 Europe.

In the UK many of the smaller NS organisations used a stylised Triskelion as an emblem. The Nordic League was on such group.

The Soil Association was another ‘Blood and Soil’ type movement which had its origins in the UK and used a stylised Triskellion as an emblem.  Today they are known worldwide as certifiers of organic food and promoters of organic farming – two very worthwhile causing in my opinion. But they are far less open on promoting the views of their founding members!

Rolf Gardiner was one founding member. Henry Rolf Gardiner was born 5th November, and was a key rural revivalist. He founded a number of ruralist groups and became involved with English Nationalist and various organic movements between the wars. Gardiner was also responsible for the revival of many Folk-Dance groups, and in 1922 had toured Germany with one such group. In 1924 he founded the Travelling Morrice. In 1927 he set up the Gore Kinship – based on Gore Farm in Dorset, which had been bought by Henry Balfour Gardiner, and started a large scale reforestation program. In 1932 he married the daughter of the Irish fabric designer – Marabel Hodgkin, and in 1933 they bought an Estate at Springhead, in Dorset. The Estate became the focus point form where he worked, and became a Trust in 1962.

In 1920 the magazine Youth was launched. This had been a left leaning magazine, but by 1923 Gardiner had become its editor, and the magazine became nationalist and pro-German. Whilst a student, Gardiner had also joined the Kibbo Kift. This influenced Gardiner’s political views and he became interested in Social Credit. He used the magazine to publish articles by John Hargrave - who headed the Kibbo Kift. Hargrave later transformed the Kibbo Kift into the Social Credit Party of Great Britain, more commonly called The Green Shirts. His views on Social Credit were also influenced by A R Orage. Gardiner later stopped working alongside Hargraves. Gardiner had been heavily influenced by D H Lawrence whilst he had been a Youth Leader in the 20’s and had visited Lawrence in Switzerland. Lawrence had not been a supporter of Hargraves. In 1929 Gardiner was writing for the German youth movement magazines. He also had debated with Leslie Paul about the German Youth Movements, and these where published in The Adelphi.   In 1928 he wrote a series of articles for publications on Race. He argued for a ‘united and pagan England and German”. He became a supporter of the National Socialist’s pro-Rural policies. He was in contact with Walter Darre, who headed the National Socialist’s rural programs and was the Reich’s Peasant Leader. From 1933, Gardiner was writing for German publications and expressed anti-Semitic views.

Gardiner became involved with the ‘English Mistery’, an esoteric group active in England from the 1930’s. The English Mistery (sometimes referred to as the English Mystery) was formed by William Sanderson and was anti-democratic and ultra-royalist. Other members included the British Nietzschean Anthony Ludivici, journalist Collin Brooks, Graham Seton Hutchinson, who in 1933 founded the extreme-right National Workers Movement. Other members were a small number of Conservative MPs, and also Gerard Vernon Wallop (9th Earl of Portsmouth). Wallop later left the English Mistery to form the English Array, to which Gardiner also joined.   The Array promoted a ‘Back to the land’ ideal. Gardiner and Wallop also founded the Kinship in Husbandry in 1941. The Kinship became the precursor organisation of the Soil Association which formed in 1946. One other of its founding members was Jorian Jenks, author of ‘None Need Starve’ and agricultural advisor to Oswald Moseley’s British Union of Fascists. Being a member of the Rural Reconstruction Association he researched and developed the principles of good husbandry. Jenks was editor of the Soil Associations journal, Mother Earth, which pioneered the organic movement. During this time he also met Walter Darre.  World War 2 bought suspicion on many of the Land Reform movements in England. Baden-Powell, after meeting the German ambassador Ribbentrop had even arranged for cycling tours of England for the Hitler Youth during the 1930’s. But Gardiner kept in contact with Darre during and after the war. Darre had been cleared of War crimes at the Nuremberg trials, despite American attempts to connect him with the Lebensburn. Darre had been an expert in the breeding of the Hanover horse (The White horse of the flags of Saxony, from which the Kentish white horse flag probably derived). Unaware of any such breeding programs – the Americans argued that the Hanover horse was code for Aryan Superman. Had they done any research into National Socialist animal protection laws, they would have seen some of Europe’s first Animal welfare laws. In fact Europe’s first wildlife sanctuary was in National Socialist Germany. The Nazis also introduced other such animal welfare laws such as a ban on hunting with dogs, something much favoured by today’s leftist-greens, as well as a ban on vivisection.  It was clear that the National Socialist’s were clearly ahead of their time! The Reich introduced breeding programs for rare and endangered species. Today in Kent, the Konik horse being breed by the wildlife charity The Wildwood Trust, came from Poland and where saved from extinction by the Nazi’s. Darre and his wife both held anti-christian views, and Darre often sent farmers across Germany pagan calendars, noting important dates in the Germanic pagan world. Darre was credited as being the ‘Father of the Greens’ by his biographer Anne Bramwell. Darre and Himmler also founded organic farms, which grew herbs for medicinal use.

This rune carving is from the Externsteine in Germany.

It shows the 18 runes of  Guido von List's Armanen rune-row and the Externsteine pillars. Above the first pillar is a rising moon. in the centre above the 3rd Pillar is the Spiritual Sun - symbolised by a spiral. The lake is in front, along with the 'Sun Temple' which aligns with the Sun at theSonnenwende.

EUROPA by Arno Breker

This statue embodies the mysteries of the AR rune - The Eagle, The Aryan, Youth, the Upright spirit of Man.

"Our Order is a Germanic Order, loyalty is also Germanic. Our God is Walvater, his rune is the Ar rune. An the trinity: Wotan, Wili, We is the unity of the trinity. The Ar-rune signifies Aryan, primal fire, the sun and the eagle. And the eagle is the symbol of the Aryans." - Rudolf von Sebottendorff

The a-Rune, Ar, Aar [eagle], the Eagle of the Sun, nobleman, Aryan, Arman, the Son of the Sun. Aar-fire = primal fire, the Son of God. Harmony = Ar-mony. Ar = acre [field]. Ar-Arahari, the spiritual Sun; Arimann, the Sun-Man, the Aryan. The Ar-Rune is also the rune of the healer, the physician [Arzt]. - Siegfried Adolf Kummer, 1932

The root word AR is were the term ARYAN derives.

Across the Indo-Germanic world we find the concept of the Aryan as being Noble. The light skinned Aryan was the Law bringers in Aryan India. Even in modern English, being fair relates to both being pale-white skinned and to being just and true. We can see this from these examples -

Arya - Noble / Honour (Sanskrit);  Ehre (German); Eer (Dutch);  Ari (Armenian)

From the root AR we find that the Aryan is bound to the soil. Ar gives us our word arable

The Old English word 'Erian' (Aryan) was someone who ploughed the land. The Gothic 'Arjan' meant the same. The plough was also a pre-NS symbol for resistance! If we look at ancient Aryan homelands, we find that place names reflected this and arable land meant land farmed by the Aryans.

Eire - Ireland; Ariāna - Peria; Iran; Āryāvarta - North India

There is an Anglo-Saxon land charm (known as the Aecerblot) which invokes a largely unknown goddess 'Erce'. Erce shares the same Ar/Er root. These blessings and rituals still live on in England through 'Plough Monday', the first monday after Yule and the first day of the farming year. On this day farmers blessed their ploughs for luck.

Erce, Erce, Erce, earth's mother,
May the all-ruler grant you, the eternal lord,
fields growing and flourishing,
propagating and strengthening,
tall shafts, bright crops,
and broad barley crops,
and white wheat crops,
and all earth's crops.
May the eternal lord grant him,
and his holy ones, who are in heaven,
that his produce be guarded against any enemies whatsoever,
and that it be safe against any harm at all,
from poisons [lyblaca] sown around the land.
Now I bid the Master, who shaped this world,
that there be no speaking-woman [cwidol wif] nor artful man
[craeftig man] that can overturn these words thus spoken.

We've already seen how the Hagal/Hail rune is connected to health and healing - of course the rune lives on as the 'Star of Life' emblem...

One thing that varies a lot with the Hagal rune is how it's name is pronounced. My own view is that in Anglo-Saxon, as the G was pronounced as a Y (e.g. geollu – yellow, geol – Yule, ge –you) this rune is Hay-al, that is Hail.

To me this Holy rune represents the life giving force from the sun –its healing rays that nourish the soil and new life. When sunlight refracts from a camera lens, it often produces the six armed Hail-Rune. The suns light refracting from water vapour in the atmosphere will also give the sun a halo (sun-crown).

'Natural' Hagal rune

The Hagal rune also adorns the shields of our Germanic folk-heroes. Sigurd, Barbarossa and Widukind have all been depicted as having a Hagal rune inscribed shield. Hagal clearly has the power to protect. Hagal gives us the word hag, which is a witch. It is also the basis for the runic formula ‘Hag All All Hag’, which was used during 1930’s Germany by the Edda society, and was the name of their publication from 1930-1933, then after it was called ‘Hagal’.

The Heil Salute

Hail the Sun!

SIEG -

From the Proto-Indo European root  *s_l

From this root we get the words Suel / Soul / Sol (Sun god) / Sole (single - One Sun!) Solar / Sawel / Sowilo / Sieg / Sail / Sigel / Salvation / Salute etc.

HEIL-

From the Proto-Germanic root *khailaz

Which gives us words like Halo / Hallow / Holy / Hello (greeting) / Hail / Heil / Heal / Health / Whole / Heilige / Heilen etc

From this it is clear the greeting 'Sieg Heil' derives from the ancient Germanic Sun-worship. To Salute was to sheild your eyes as you glazed upon Sunna, our Ario-Germanic Sun-goddess.

Savitri Devi - a Hindu and a National Socialist.

The official salute of the Olympics.

'Reclaim the Swastika' (sic) websites often use this swastika with the flower arrangement as an example of 'non-nazi' usage of the swastika. Of course, their perceived view that any swastika that depicts growth, the sun, life and light must be of Hindu or Buddhist  origin is clearly misplaced!

The image above shows the Swastika in its TRUE-LIGHT, as bringer of light, life and warm to our great race...And is taken straight from a National Socialist publication for the Advent of Weihnacht!

Printed in 1943 the caption reads -

"When winter storms keep children in the house, we can draw from memory all that we have experienced. The preceding year will become vivid for them once again in the sun, moon, stars, plants, and animals. The boys will want to busy themselves with the experiences of our victorious soldiers in the war. It is not important if the picture is beautiful, but rather that we take real pleasure when we draw."

The curved swastika was always used as a sign for Life in NS Germany. It symbolised the warmth and growth of the sun. The Solstices (Sonnenwende) became national holidays...

Below are some examples for curved and rounded swastikas in use.

Sonnenwende 1939 - one of many Solstice 'tinnie' badges produced to celebrate the Summer Solstice.

Stunning Allach plate with curved sunwheel swastika and Lebesrune. The boarders decorated with Hagal runes.

The Hagal rune itself is a sign of health and healing.

The National Socialists Worldview was pro Nature and pro Living. This example is taken from a Hitler Youth educational book "Faith and Action" printed 1938 [translated by Calvin Education]

Nature

The divine is powerful in its creatures. It dwells not in walls that people build. They may be witnesses of its will, but god is in the living. §Our ancestors went into the forests to find or to honor god. They greeted his light rising in the morning. That was more to them than a lamp in a man’s hand. They stood on mountain tops because his greatest work, the starry sky, was nearest there, not covered by a roof of stone. The great spring flowing from the mountain was more genuine and nearer to god than anything that could flow from a bottle held by a human hand. §Who dares to say that they were not close to the living god? §Other peoples may seek refuge in the stone walls of their cities or seek their god in caves. The true German senses god with holy fear in the life of creation. He prays to god by honouring his great works. §Who dares to say that God is nearer to us in that which human beings have built? §The faith of our fathers remains strong in us. Still today the German wanders through his countryside and is moved by the beauty of the land god has given him. The summits of his mountains give freedom. He feels eternity amidst the sea. Flowing water is to him the image of eternal change. §He protects the forest and the tree and the bush as if they were his comrades. He loves the animals that are tortured and tormented in other countries. What to him is part of his household is elsewhere only a possession. §He sees and honors in everything god’s creation, in the holy earth, in the wandering wind, in the flickering flames, in which there is always change. Ever again we stand on the summits of the peaks and wave the torch and feel the magnificent and the ineffable. §Who dares chide us because our eyes are open?

Light-Life-Struggle-Victory. What can happen to a nation whose youth give up everything in order to serve their great ideal.

In this German poster the shield contains four runes, each relating to the four elements of Light, Life, Struggle and Victory.

The Curved Sunwheel - the Thule Swastika - the Holy Sun is symbolic of LIGHT

The Leben rune - Algiz - the Tree of LIFE

Tyr - Tiw - God of War and Justice - the Sword of STRUGGLE

Sieg! - Sigrune - VICTORY!

German Poster with Wende-Horn symbolism and Hitler quote.

Men come and men go - but this community in which the nation will alway renew itself, shall be eternal.

This runic sign is called the Wende-Horn. It is a rune binding of the life and death runes – namely the Yr and man runes. Wend is from the  Proto-Germanic root *wanđijanan 'to turn'. Wiligut used the Wende-Horn in his own rune row, and many folk associate the rune with the phonetic value ‘mm’.

If we look at the binding of Yr and Man we find that it gives us Yrman – a variation of Irman/Irmin which is the name of the Saxon god of the Irminsul. The Wende-Horn is a runic representation of the Irminsul and the turning of the cycle of time.  Unlike Norse cosmology which has nine worlds, Anglo-Saxon cosmology only contained seven. These are the three branches into the heavens, the three roots into the underworld, and the central stave (symbolising Midgard).

The Irminsul with the sacred Sunwheel.

Another clue which links the Wende-Horn to the Irminsul is that Wiligut used a sideward variation of the Wende Horn and used the name Wan and Iring for this rune. Iring is the ‘Milky Way’ and another form of Irmin.

Life and Death
WEHR HEIL!

This Wehrwolf Wolfhook is a variation on the Wolfsangel. It is a runebinding with the Wolfsangel and the Sieg rune – for this rune is a rune of resistance! Painted on walls  and buildings (often the Sieg rune was painted in red) in post war Germany as a reminder to the occupying Allied forces that ‘Werewolfs’ were still waging a guerilla war against them.

In reality these Werwolfs were often members of the Hitler Youth, who towards the end of the war had stock piled weapons and supplies within Germanys forests, in order to be able to resist the occupiers. The single Sieg rune had been a symbol for the HJ – so maybe this Wolf Hook design was the invention of the HJ? Whether the invention of the HJ or an ancestral and heraldic sign (as yet I can’t find this style of Wolf Hook outside the time frame of WW2, though there are many styles of Wolf Hook in Germanic Heraldry) it would have installed Pride and Honour amongst the Werwolves and fear amongst their enemies!

Other signs amongst the Werewolves were – a Red ‘W’, a Wolf Hook with single stave and the forward facing Totenkopf.

These youngsters still caused the Americans a good number of casualties, right up until 1949, some four years after the war ended, through the setting of booby traps and sniping. A rarely known fact about the war is that the Americans refused to release many German boys aged 12-18 from prison camps right up until 1947, on fear they would become Werwolfs!

Detail from a Wehrwolf buckle

In this belt buckle – (the buckle is itself is an important ritual item, as we see from many Anglo-Saxon and Viking images of Gods naked except for a belt buckle) we can see this style of Wolf Hook depicted.

The Finglesham buckle (which stunning piece of Anglo-Saxon art depicts Woden naked bar the buckle which he wears himself). The importance of the buckle is found in the mysteries that concern the Orion constellation, which is something that will be covered soon.

This rune is the Opfer rune. The name means ‘offer’ and relates to the sacrifice or offering.
This rune is clearly connected to the Wolfsangle but lies horizontally and without the central stave. The rune also rotates anti clockwise, whereas the Eif rune is the mirror image.

In Volkish Germany this rune was used as a rune of remembrance – when the volk remembered and honoured our ancestors and the movement’s martyrs.

In these pictures we see the Opfer rune in use – the Opfer rune upon a swastika flag at a remembrance rally and on this ‘tinnie’ badge – as a reward for a charity donation.
